Two Postdoctoral Research Assistant Posts in Machine
Learning For Natural Language Dialogue Processing

The Computing Laboratory has two vacancies for postdoctoral research
assistants to work in the area of machine learning for natural language
dialogue processing. The posts are funded by the European Union as part of
the FP6 Integrated Project COMPANIONS: Intelligent, Persistent,
Personalised Multimodal Interfaces to the Internet, and are available for
up to four years from November 1st 2006.

Applicants should have, or expect shortly to obtain, a PhD in
computational linguistics, artificial intelligence, or some other relevant
discipline, and should have experience of one or more of the following:
machine learning methods in language processing; knowledge representation
and reasoning, particularly using Bayesian Networks and related
formalisms; dialogue modelling for spoken language systems. Applicants
should be experienced programmers. The posts will require occasional
travel to other partner sites within the EU. The successful applicants
will join a rapidly growing computational linguistics group
(www.clg.ox.ac.uk).
