In the context of the PIITHIE Project, entitled "Plagiats et Impacts
de l'Information Textuelle recHerchée dans un contexte InterlinguE",
sponsored by french ANR
(National Agency for Research), program "Technologies Logicielles"
2006, the NLP Team of the LINA Laboratory at the University of Nantes
is looking for a candidate to fill a full-time postdoctoral or
engineer position in NLP for a period of two years.

Project context
---------------
PIITHIE is a collaborative project between the research teams of the
Computer Sciences laboratories LINA (Nantes) and LIA (Avignon) and the
Advestigo and Sinequa SAS companies.
It primarily aims to detect text plagiarism. Natural language
processing (NLP) techniques will improve the performances and the
research potential of both Advestigo and Sinequa tools. The second
objective is about impact monitoring: Information distributors are
very interested by the possibility to evaluate the impact of their
production.

Job description
---------------
The successful candidate will join the NLP Team of the LINA Laboratory
at the University of Nantes. The candidate is espected to participate
to all project phases  : from study to development. The main functions
of the post are to develop text analysis techniques for plagiarism
problems with respect to LINA approach and tools.

Job profil
----------
Minimum requirements:
Applicants must have a postgraduate degree (preferably a PhD) with
experience in Natural Language Processing, Computational Linguistics
or Document Engineering
Experience in linguistic approaches in NLP
Strong programming skills in Java, Perl
Relevant knowledge of XML technologies
Full spoken and written proficiency of French
Ability to work as a team

Preferred/recommended requirements:
Experience in product development
Experience in the following areas: Statistical and/or Machine Learning
approaches in NLP

inference, text mining and the acquisition of multilingual linguistic
ressources.It explores textual data to extract linguistic information
concerned with all the levels of language processing : morphological,
