[Corpora-List] An Industry-Related PhD Position in the Domain of Ontologies

The department of “Knowledge Management” in Siemens Corporate Technology is looking for a PhD student for R&D activities in a government-funded research project.



The topic of dissertation is in the domain of Semantic Web technologies and ontologies with a particular focus on medical ontologies and their semantic integration and interoperability.



The candidate should have a very good university degree in Computer Science, Natural Language Processing or a related discipline. Knowledge in Semantic Web technologies is a definite asset, but is not an obligatory requirement. Moreover, very good programming skills, especially in Java, are required as well as experience with established Semantic Web tools, such as Jena, Sesame, Protégé, or Pellet. The research activities are carried out within a national research project. Therefore the German language skills are necessary. 



The position will be primarily located in Munich-Neuperlach. The scientific supervision of the dissertation will be carried out in the Ubiquitous Knowledge Processing Group (Telecooperation/Computer Science) of the Technical University of Darmstadt, see http://www.ukp.tu-darmstadt.de/. The duration of contract is 2-3 years. The payment is according to the Siemens terms for PhD students.
