[Corpora-List] New syntactically annotated collection for IR evaluation in Portuguese

Dear colleagues

 

We are pleased to announce that the syntactical annotation of the CHAVE collection, http://www.linguateca.pt/CHAVE/ by the PALAVRAS parser http://beta.visl.sdu.dk/visl/pt/ of Eckhard Bick is now available for download from the Linguateca site.

 

The CHAVE collection was created by Linguateca with the full material of the Público and Folha de São Paulo daily newspapers in 1994-1995 (respectively from Portugal and Brazil) in the scope of CLEF, the cross-language evaluation forum, http://www.clef-campaign.org/ and is available since 2004 also at the CLEF subsite of Linguateca, http://www.linguateca.pt/CLEF/

 

We hope that this will contribute to steadier progress of Portuguese language processing and Portuguese IR, and specifically advances in geographical information retrieval and question answering.
