[Corpora-List] Apache Lucene

Dear colleagues,

I'm looking for a text-analyzer and retrieval tool for school books. I
want to use a POS-tagger (like TreeTagger or FreeLing), but IT people
wants to use the Apache Lucene tool. They told me "that tool is all you
need", but I'm not sure about his capabilities (I think is ONLY a full
text indexing and retrieval engine).

Any suggestion about Lucene? Any experience?
