POSITION AS DOCTORAL RESEARCH FELLOWSHIP  (SKO/post code 1017)

is available at the Department of Linguistics and Scandinavian
studies, University of Oslo,  01.10.08.-30.09.11.

The PhD research fellowship is for a period of three years and will be
attached to the project "Automatic query expansion using linguistic
knowledge." The successful applicant is expected to investigate and
develop techniques to improve search results in electronic texts. The
techniques will, in principle, be language independent, but we will
use available resources for Norwegian and the other Scandinavian
languages (such as single- and multi-lingual dictionaries, taggers and
other automatic tools, plus corpora). We will focus on three
techniques: cross-linguistic querying, lemmatisation and synonym
expansion, connected with grammatical disambiguation.
