[Corpora-List] How to build a WordNet?

Dear list members,

I would like to know how new WordNets (e.g. for different
(sub)languages) or WordNet extensions are built nowadays. Is the
lexicographic file format and the 'grind' software still in use? Are
there any APIs that support building WordNets and writing WordNet
indexes?

I'd really be happy to read about your experiences, get some
directions to literature references, software implementations etc.
