Call for Papers

5th Conference on Intercultural Rhetoric and Discourse

 

English Language Institute

University of Michigan 

Ann Arbor, Michigan

 

June 11 – 13, 2009

 

Focus

We hope that the conference papers will focus on the way contextual occasions affect communicative and textual outcomes across a wide range of intercultural settings, from "small cultures" such as those that emerge in classrooms or working groups, to broad cross-cultural comparisons (i.e. business) and cross-disciplinary differences.

Abstracts

Abstracts are welcome in any area of intercultural rhetoric and discourse, ranging from “small cultures” such as a classroom to larger settings.  Abstracts should be 250 words or less and include a title, author name, a separate 50-word summary, and A-V equipment needs. Submit proposal materials by e-mail to  <mailto:CIRD5 at umich.edu> CIRD5 at umich.edu. Presenters will have 30 minutes plus 15 minutes to respond to questions and comments.
