                     on-line survey on common practices
in the annotation of training material for Natural Language Processing
************************************************************************

This survey aims at investigating annotation practices used for the
*creation of training material* for statistical approaches to Natural
Language Processing (NLP).

More specifically, we want to study to which extent and in which
scenarios Active Learning (AL) is used to reduce annotation costs, as
well as addressing the reasons to why (or why not) AL has been found
applicable to a specific task.

The survey targets participants who were or are currently involved in
the annotation of training material for any kind of NLP task.

The questionnaire takes only few minutes. Results will be available
online or sent to participants by email if desired. Please feel free to
forward this message to anyone you think might be interested in the survey.

To access the survey just click on the link below or copy it to your

The survey is open now until Feb 20, 2009.

Thanks in advance for YOUR PARTICIPATION,
Katrin & Fredrik
