[Corpora-List] Call for Papers: LRE - Special Issue on African Language Technology

Following the EACL 2009 Workshop on Language Technologies for African 
Languages (AfLaT 2009), we were offered the opportunity to compile a 
special issue for the journal "Language, Resources and Evaluation" 
(LRE). This special issue on African Language Technology will bundle a 
selection of revised versions of workshop papers and new submissions 
related to the topic at hand. We invite submissions on any topic related 
to Language Technologies and African languages including, but not 
limited to, the following:

- Corpora and corpus annotation,
- Machine readable lexicons,
- Morphological analyzers and spelling checkers,
- Part of speech taggers and parsers,
- Speech recognition and synthesis,
- Applications such as machine translation, information extraction, 
information retrieval, computer-assisted language learning and question 
answering.
- The role of language technologies in economic development, education, 
health care, and emergency and public services.
- Documentation of endangered languages and the use of language 
technologies to enhance language vitality,
- Language technologies delivered on mobile platforms, e.g. phones.

Both resubmitted workshop papers and new submissions will follow normal 
LRE review procedures. More information on how to submit your manuscript 
can be found on LRE's website. Kindly make sure that your manuscript 
strictly follows the LRE guidelines. Word templates and LateX macros are 
available on the journal's homepage. The total length of your paper 
should not exceed 12 pages.

Important Dates:
Submission deadline: December 15 2009
Notification of Acceptance (tentative): January 29 2009
Camera-ready papers (tentative): February 19 2009
