The Centre for Natutal Language Processing at UCLouvain (CENTAL) is  
recruiting 1 post-doc (6 months, with possible extension)

Job Description:

CENTAL and the Belgium-based company Bitong are engaged in a research  
project aiming at developing new methodologies for the parsing of  
information acquired from Web pages written in English and Chinese. To  
strengthen the CENTAL research team (UCL) and collaborate on the  
Bitong project, we are recruiting one post-doc (6 months, with  
possible extension).

The role of the selected candidate will be to participate in the  
development of a linguistics-based information extraction system and  
to contribute to the design of ontologies for semantic parsing. He/she  
will work at the University of Louvain, in Louvain-la-Neuve, a nice  
modern city, located 30 kilometers away from Brussels. He/she will be  
part of the CENTAL team, a dynamic research team of 15 people,  
involved in various regional, national and international research  
projects in Natural Language Processing. He/she will benefit from the  
lab infrastructure and from a stimulating environment. He/she will  
work and stay in close contact with other researchers and professors  
of the lab as well as with the other organisations involved in the  
project. He/she will also have the opportunity to work within Company  
Bitong which is located in Brussels, capital of Europe.

The ideal candidate:

* has a PhD in Computational linguistics, Linguistics or Computer  
science (or another close and relevant discipline);

* has good programming skills;

* is interested in Natural Language Processing and has a tangible  
experience or knowledge of the field of Information Extraction,  
Semantic parsing or Ontologies;

* speaks English and (ideally) Chinese;

* is a hard worker... has good team spirit!

Additional information:


Duration of the contract: 6 months (with possible extension, possible  
opportunity at Bitong if project successful)

Starting date: March 2010 (with some flexibility)
