[Corpora-List] Post-doc position at FBK-irst Trento (Italy)

A Post-doc position is available in the “Human Language Technologies - HLT”  Research Unit
at  FBK-irst , Trento, Italy.


The selected candidate will conduct research on shallow and deep techniques for knowledge annotation/extraction
from texts with special focus on: key-concept extraction from texts (English, Swedish, Finnish), automatic acquisition
of is-a relations from texts (ontology learning from English); frame recognition from texts (English); recognition of
temporal relations (according to TimeML standard, from Italian Texts).  Research will be conducted within the
“PESCaDO” and “TERENCE” European Projects.

The candidate is expected to work in collaboration with other researchers, programmers, and students involved in
all the other research projects in which the Unit is contributing to.

The ideal candidate should have:
- Ph.D. level education on Computational Linguistics;
- strong background in both linguistics and computational linguistics;
- familiarity with methods based on both machine learning and explicit linguistic knowledge;
- familiarity with constituency and dependency parsing;
- ability to meet dead-lines and to carry out an independent research program;
- proficiency in scientific writing and project documentation;
- oral and written proficiency in English;
- proficiency in comprehension of Italian written texts;

Additional requirements:
- skills in experimental work and development of algorithms in Perl and Prolog;
- ability to work in a collaborative environment, with a strong commitment.

Type of contract: research position (R3 level) for a 30 months contract.
