CALBC workshop
(19/20 April 2010, EBI, Cambridge, U.K)
The CALBC project has the task of the "Collaborative Annotation of a
large-scale biomedical corpus". The current corpus contains 100,000 Medline
abstracts and has been annotated with genes/proteins, chemical entities,
medical diseases and species:
- 11 teams (plus 4 project partners) participated
- 18 (plus 4) annotated corpora were contributed
The workshop forms a forum to discuss the outcomes of the challenge and to
gain insights into the making of the corpus. Furthermore, the workshop will
be used to present the ongoing work of participants and to discuss the setup
of the second challenge and the exploitation of the annotated corpus in the
Semantic Web.
Keynotes talks:
- Yves Lussier, MD (The University of Chicago): Biomedical knowledge
discovery
- M. Scott Marshall, PhD (Leiden University Medical Center): Literature in
the Semantic Web
Registration is open, the workshop is free of additional charge except for a
contribution to the evening dinner.
Location: European Bioinformatics Institute, Hinxton, Cambridge, U.K.
Date: 19/20 April 2010
