[Corpora-List] Senior Research Fellow - National Centre for Text Mining

We are seeking to employ a senior research fellow to work in a collaborative project funded by the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID), National Institutes of Health (NIH), between the Virginia Bioinformatics Institute (VBI) at Virginia Tech, Cyberinfrastructure Group, (https://www.vbi.vt.edu/faculty/research_groups/cyberinfrastructure) and the National Centre for Text Mining (www.nactem.ac.uk).

The purpose of this post is to provide the text mining capabilities to support research on infectious diseases, e.g. pathogens, genomic and proteomic data analysis.

You will join a strong and dynamic team of 20 text miners and software engineers at NaCTeM. 
You should have a PhD in Computer Science or related area and a good first degree (minimum 2:1) in an area relevant to the job description. You should have proven experience in developing algorithms and software for biomedical NLP/TM systems, especially in the area of named entity recognition and information extraction, the ability to produce experiments for text mining applications using large data sets; excellent knowledge of text mining using machine learning techniques; excellent knowledge of C, C++, Java, XML, Windows, Linux and Web Services. An excellent publication record for this post is essential.
