The Language and Computation group at the Institute for Logic, Language 
and Computation (ILLC) has a job opening for an:


  Assistant Professor in Statistical Natural Language Processing


    38 hours per week for 2 years, starting in autumn 2010

      Tasks

    * Carry out research in statistical natural language processing (50%
      of the time)
    * Publish research results in leading journals
    * Present results at conferences
    * Contribute to the teaching in the Artificial Intelligence
      Bachelor's and Master's programmes (Natural Language Processing
      track)
    * Contribute to supervision of Bachelor's and Master's projects in NLP


      Requirements

All candidates should:

    * have - preferably proven - research interest in the field of
      statistical natural language processing;
    * have proven experience with research (e.g. a doctoral dissertation);
    * have an excellent written and spoken command of English;
    * have a strong affinity (experience is a plus) with teaching at
      Bachelor's and Master's levels.

      Appointment

The appointment will be on a temporary basis for a period of one year. 
Subject to satisfactory performance, this will be followed by another 
year. Depending on qualifications and experience, the gross monthly 
salary will range from €3,195 to €4,374 (scale 11), based on a full-time 
appointment (38 hours a week). Additional benefits include an 8% holiday 
allowance and 8.3% end-of-year bonus.
