The Department of Computational Linguistics at Heidelberg
University opens a

full-time position for a researcher in Computational Linguistics.

The Computational Linguistics Department at Heidelberg University
hosts a young and dynamic team conducting cutting-edge research
in natural language processing. With three full professorships, a
growing number of PhD students and researchers the department is
one of the important centers of Computational Linguistics in Germany.

The position is located in the group of Anette Frank. The
research of this group is focused on corpus-based statistical
methods for semantic natural language processing. Topics include
multilingual lexical semantics and knowledge acquisition,
discourse-level semantic processing and NLP applications built

The position is open for a post doctoral researcher or a doctoral
student with a strong research profile. A post doctoral researcher
is expected to conduct independent research with projects embedded
in the group's research themes.
Prerequisites are a masters/diploma or a PhD degree in Computational
Linguistics or related fields. We expect a solid background and
experience in statistical techniques for natural language processing,
good programming skills, and a clear research profile. Prior
experience in the area of statistics-based computational semantics
and NLP applications is a plus.

The position involves four hours of teaching per term, participation
in administrative duties, and supervision of students.

A good command of German is mandatory.

Salary: according to German scale TV-L 13
Duration: two years; possibility of extension for another 4 years
Starting date: April 2011
