The Institute for Natural Language Processing in Faculty 5: Computer  
Science, Electrical Engineering and Information Technology at the  
University of Stuttgart is seeking to fill the position of an

Assistant Professor (Juniorprofessor; W1-level) of Computational
Linguistics.

The position was established in connection with the Collaborative  
Research Center (SFB) 732 "Incremental specification in context".

Candidates should have a proven scientific record in the area of  
Computational Linguistics, show potential for the acquisition of  
external project funding, and be open for interdisciplinary  
collaborations with Theoretical Linguistics as part of SFB 732.

In terms of teaching, the successful candidate will contribute to the  
Institute's course offerings in Computational Linguistics, partially  
in English.  He or she should have profound knowledge in Computational  
Linguistics (covering at least two of the levels of  
Phonetics/Phonology, Morphology, Syntax, Semantics and Knowledge  
Representation), and be familiar with several distinct methodological  
approaches in Natural Language Processing.

In the research profile, a convincing positioning towards at least one  
of the focus areas of current theoretical and applied research in  
Computational Linguistics and Natural Language Processing is expected.

A special interest in the interface between Speech and Language  
Processing ("Spoken Language Processing") is desirable.

The requirements for employment listed in § 51 Baden-Württemberg  
university law apply.
