[Corpora-List] Centre for Joint Honours to close at Leeds University

Hi Eric, et al,

This sounds disasterous. Discovery in the various disciplines had been proceeding steadily, if not geometrically. Collectively however (albeit in my tentative opinion) this wisdom has long-since passed a critical mass whereby the connecting of knowledge-sources, and the teaching of discipline-independent approaches to research and problem-solving, possesses the potential to catalyse an unprecedented explosion in human knowledge.

Cuts have to be made sometimes. When they do, everybody complains that cuts in their field are short-sighted or ill-advised. That is the nature of economics and politics. In this case however I have to say I am inclined to vocalise my concern.

The decision you cite sounds very clear-cut Eric, but I cannot find any information about a general plan to cut cross-disciplinary studies. Can you point me to any resources?

and cut cross-disciplinary studies (like Computing and Linguistics);
in future, academic studies will be focussed in core-discipline Schools.
