[Corpora-List] Postdoc Opportunity: Reykjavik University

Dear list members:


The School of Computer Science (SCS) at Reykjavik University (http://en.ru.is/CS/) in Iceland seeks applicants in the field of Natural Language Processing (NLP) for the START Postdoctoral Fellowship programme (http://www.rannis.is/sjodir/start-postdoctoral-programme/) organized by The Icelandic Research Fund. The duration of each fellowship is 12-24 months with a possibility of a 12 month extension.

The guide states:

"[Incoming fellowships are] for researchers of all nationalities who have completed their PhD (doctoral degree) within five years of the proposal deadline, intending to pursue research in Iceland. Country of residence prior to proposal deadline can be any country, except Iceland."



The application deadline is June 15th, 2011, but it is important that interested individuals contact the following person no later than June 1st, 2011, with project ideas:

The SCS is a member of the Icelandic Centre for Language Technology (ICLT; http://iclt.is).  Examples of ICLT's past and current research areas/projects are: lemmatisation, part-of-speech tagging, shallow parsing, context-sensitive spell checking, corpus/treebank construction, rule-based machine translation, and extraction of semantic relations.  In addition to these fields, the SCS/ICLT is interested in pursuing new areas of research, for example, information retrieval/extraction, question-answering, discourse and dialogue, and computer-assisted language learning.
