[Corpora-List] Please advise: Visual XML-editor

GATE (http://gate.ac.uk/) can happily load XML documents and show each 
tag in a different colour. It also allows you to easily add new 
annotations in a visual fashion. Add to that the fact that it's free and 
open-source and hopefully it will satisfy all you're requirements,
