Applications are invited for the position of a

Computational linguist (50%)

in a research project under the auspices of CLARIN-D (http://de.clarin.eu). The project runs from 02/2013 until 04/2014 (15 months). An extension in a follow-up project or at the Slavic department (West Slavic languages) is envisaged.

The project „Accessing digital archives via metadata and lemmata“ will develop advanced resources for the querying of large digital archives of historical documents. Middle and early modern Polish will serve as a model case. Tasks include the harvesting and conversion of metadata, the design of automata generating inflectional and orthographic variants, and the adaptation of web services within CLARIN-D.

The successful applicant will hold a degree in computational linguistics, natural language processing or Slavic linguistics, and have experience in finite-state morphological processing, XML and XSLT, web services, and programming in Python and/or Java. Willingness to work with Polish language data is indispensable, deeper knowledge of Polish a plus. Knowledge of German is not required. The salary rate follows the German TV-L E13 (1/2) scheme.

in einem Forschungsprojekt (Kurationsprojekt) innerhalb von CLARIN-D (http://de.clarin.eu). Das Projekt läuft von 02/2013 bis 04/2014 (15 Monate). Eine Weiterbeschäftigung im Rahmen eines Folgeprojekts oder am Lehrstuhl für Westslawische Sprachen wird angestrebt.

Das Projekt „Erschließung digitaler Archive über Metadaten und Lemmata“ soll Werkzeuge für eine bessere Textrecherche in großen digitalen Archiven historischer Dokumente entwickeln. Das vormoderne Polnische dient dabei als Modellfall. Zu den Aufgaben gehören die Sammlung und Konversion von Metadaten, das Design von Automaten für morphologische und orthographische Varianten sowie die Adaption von Webdiensten in CLARIN-D.

Bewerber sollten ein Studium der Computerlinguistik oder maschinellen Sprachverarbeitung oder der slavistischen Linguistik erfolgreich abgeschlossen haben und über Erfahrungen mit finite-state-Morphologie, XML und XLST, Webdiensten und Programmierung unter Python oder Java verfügen. Die Bereitschaft zur Arbeit mit polnischen Sprachdaten wird vorausgesetzt; Polnischkenntnisse wären vorteilhaft, aber nicht Bedingung. Das Gehalt entspricht der Tarifgruppe TV-L E13 (1/2).
