The chair of Computational Linguistics at the IMS, University of
Stuttgart, Germany, invites applications for two PhD positions in
Computational Linguistics / Natural Language Processing, available
from the 1st of May 2012 (or later).
The first candidate will contribute to a research project within the
Sonderforschungsbereich (collaborative research centre) 732,
"Incremental Specification in Context"
(http://www.uni-stuttgart.de/linguistik/sfb732/).
Desired qualifications:
* Excellent university degree in Computational Linguistics, Computer
Science or relevant related subject
* Strong programming skills
* Exposure to Linguistics or Computational Linguistics
The second candidate (subject to available funding) will be working on
a joint project with the Health on the Net Foundation, an NGO located
in Geneva, specialised in IR for the health domain.
Desired qualifications:
* Excellent university degree in Computer Science, Computational
Linguistics or relevant related subject
* Excellent programming skills
Salary is according to the German TV-L 13 (50%) scale. The two
positions may be combined into one TV-L 13 (100%) position.
IMS is a leading research institute with four professors in different
areas of NLP, a research staff of over 60 people and an undergraduate
and postgraduate program in CL. English is the working language;
nevertheless, an ability to speak, or willingness to learn, German is
appreciated.
