Leeds Cancer Research UK Centre - PhD Research Fellowships

The Leeds Cancer Research UK Centre is in receipt of support for 2 Research 
Fellowships in 2012; these posts are available from 1 October 2012. 
These fellowships are funded by Cancer Research UK. It is anticipated that 
2 awards will be made each year in future, with the next 2 available 
from October 2013.

Applications for the 2012 round of these Fellowships are sought from 
researchers who are committed to academic careers in oncology, with the 
potential to be leaders in their field. We are seeking outstanding 
individuals who wish to pursue a period of full-time research. Applications 
are welcome from exceptional candidates wishing to work towards a PhD.

The Patient Pathway Manager (PPM) system developed in Leeds holds cancer
patient records for the largest NHS Trust in the UK. On possible avenue
for research is to apply corpus linguistics and text-mining techniques
to the patient records to find patterns of cancer treatment and/or
recurrence, in collaboration with e-health informatics researchers, see
