*The third Corpus Linguistics in the South event*

Theme: TEACHING AND LEARNING WITH CORPORA: USING CORPUS LINGUISTICS TO
FACILITATE AND UNDERSTAND THE EDUCATION PROCESS

Following on the success of the first two Corpus Linguistics in the  South
meetings (Portsmouth and London), the next Corpus Linguistics in the South
workshop will take place at Oxford Brookes University on  June 23rd, 2012.

*Venue:*

The event will be held on room FHG07, Fuller Building, Gipsy Lane campus,
Oxford Brookes. The campus is located on Headington Road, Oxford OX3 0BP.

11.15-12.00: Maha Alharthi & Nicholas Groom: “The collocational competence
of Arab EFL learners: a corpus-based study”
12.00-12.45: Keith Stuart: “Evaluative language and evaluative coherence”
12.45-2.00: Lunch
2.00-2.45: Yolanda Noguera Díaz: “A subfield of English for Submariners”
2.45-3.30: Chau Meng Huat: “Learners, learner language and language
learning: rethinking some basic constructs in learner corpus research”
3:30-3:45: Coffee break
3.45-4.30: Martin Wynne: “Corpora in the Classroom: practical and technical
issues”

*Lunch:*

An optional lunch will be arranged. Details depend on the final number of
guests, so we ask that you *please confirm if you would like to join us*.

In keeping with prior Corpus Linguistics in the South events, participation
in the workshop is free. Please be aware that the number of places is
limited, and will be allocated on a first-come, first-served basis.

Please confirm your attendance by responding to this email. This
confirmation is important in order to ensure that all participants have
access to the building, and to place the order for lunch.
