[Corpora-List] Three Research Positions in the POETICON++ Project @ILSP, ATHENA R.C.

the following job announcement may be of interest
(please circulate):

For the needs of the European Research & Development project POETICON++ ("Robots need Language: A computational mechanism for generalisation and generation of new behaviours in robots", www.poeticon.eu), the Institute for Language and Speech Processing (www.ilsp.gr), Athena Research Center, announces three research and development posts which are tenable fromJanuary 2013, with a fixed-term contract, as follows:
 i)     Position 1:  Similarity Metrics and Embodied Multiword Analysis (3-year contract)
The position involves (a) the development of a reasoning mechanism for cognitive robotics applications that will make use of similarity-based categorisation principles and metrics, and (b) the development of an algorithm for the automatic analysis of multiword terms and composite words in terms of their reference to objects, actions and perceptual features.

ii) Position 2:  Ontology Alignment (3-year contract)

The position involves (a) the development of an algorithm for the alignment of ontologies and (b) the development of a reasoning mechanism that will make use of verbally expressed perceptual and motoric features of objects and human actions respectively.
 
iii) Position 3: Gesture-Speech Interaction Analysis (1-year contract)
The position involves (a) annotation of a multimodal and multisensory corpus in terms of different gesture types and their semantic relations to the corresponding speech and (b) computational analysis of the interaction patterns between gesture and speech.
 
The applicants for these positions should demonstrate evidence of the following:
 
o        A PhD or Masters Degree in Artificial Intelligence (or related subject), or equivalent research experience
o        Strong programming skills, in two or more of the following (C, C++, Java, Perl, Python, Prolog)
o        Good command of the English language
o        Experience in system development and academic writing skills
For position (i), applicants should also demonstrate evidence of:
	* Experience in Knowledge Representation and Reasoning
For position (ii), applicants should also demonstrate evidence of:
	* Experience in Statistical Language Processing
For position (iii), applicants should also demonstrate evidence of:
	* Experience in the analysis and modelling of Verbal and Non-Verbal communication
For all three positions, research experience in any of the following areas will be considered a plus:

natural language processing, multimedia processing, cognitive robotics
