Alan,
The OpenLogos dictionaries have 12 categories of nouns, including concrete and abstract nouns. All nouns were classified manually, according to supersets, sets and subsets, as explained in the SAL tutorial. SAL is a semantico-syntactic abstract language, which represents the "engine" of the OpenLogos MT system. The lexicon is classified in terms of SAL categories. Here is the link for the noun supersets: http://www.l2f.inesc-id.pt/~abarreiro/openlogos-tutorial/NOUNroot.htm
OpenLogos dictionaries will be available soon (including the English-French dictionary with the SAL categories for all PoS).

Subject: [Corpora-List] Identifying abstract nouns
Hi Corpora List,
I need to distinguish between concrete and abstract nouns in a French corpus. Does anyone know of either a lexicon that classifies nouns on this basis, or of any algorithms/software which can classify them automatically? Resources for French are preferred but those for other languages may be helpful as well.
Thank you!Alan Hogue
