The “Digital Humanities“ Research group at Fondazione Bruno Kessler (Trento, Italy) is seeking two candidates for the following positions:
1. Software developer
Job description:
The Digital Humanities group is looking for a software developer to support research activity in the area of text analysis, crowdsourcing of semantic annotation, implementation and exploration of digital collections. The developer will be in charge of the processing pipeline implemented within the DH group for storing, analyzing, retrieving and annotating digital collections, including historical sources, literary texts and cultural heritage collections.
The activities will focus on the following topics:
- requirements elicitation, design, development and testing of online platforms for the exploration of textual documents, esp. historical sources, literary documents, cultural heritage collections;
- integration of natural language processing and data visualization tools into modular pipelines to support research in digital collections.
Type of contract: collaboration contract (Including meal vouchers or work canteen and welcome office support for visa formalities, accommodation, social security, etc.)
Annual gross salary: around 30,400 €
Start date: from January 2014
Duration: 2 years
Place: Povo, Trento (Italy)

2. Junior researcher
The Digital Humanities group is looking for a junior researcher to conduct research mainly in the area of text analysis for digital humanities (esp. in the History and Literary domain) and for the creation of digital archives of cultural heritage collections. The candidate will work in collaboration with other students and researchers of the group, as well as with partners involved in current and future DH projects (universities, museums, companies, other research institutions). The candidate is also expected to contribute to writing project proposals and to mentor interns and master students occasionally involved in the group activities. The candidate is expected to advance state-of-the-art research in (at least one of) the following topics:
- development of techniques and methodologies for adapting text analysis tools to new domains, especially historical and literary ones;
- development of techniques and methodologies to reduce expert annotation effort, esp. combining crowdsourcing and active learning.

Annual gross salary: around 26,500 €
Start date: January 2014
