INTERNATIONAL QUANTITATIVE LINGUISTICS CONFERENCE (QUALICO) 2014

20th anniversary of IQLA and Journal of Quantitative Linguistics (JQL)

Topics of interest

==================

The conference to be held in Olomouc (Czech Republic), May 29th ‐ June 1st,  2014. Submissions on all aspects of quantitative linguistics and text analysis are welcome. We particularly encourage submissions on

- Descriptions of all aspects of language and text phenomena, including psycholinguistics, sociolinguistics, dialectology, pragmatics, language typology, usage based approaches, etc., as far as they use quantitative mathematical methods (probability theory, stochastic processes, differential and difference equations, fuzzy logics and set theory, function theory, etc.).

- Applications of methods, models, or findings from quantitative linguistics to problems of natural language processing, text classification, stylistics, authorship attribution, machine translation, language teaching, information retrieval, language complexity and complex network analysis.

- Methodological problems of linguistic measurement, model construction, sampling and test theory.

- Epistemological issues such as explanation of language and text phenomena, contributions to theory construction, systems theory, philosophy of science.

 

Presentations should be in English. Each paper will be allotted 30 minutes (20 minutes presentation + 10 minutes discussion). There will also be a poster session.

Abstracts and Registration

============================

Abstracts, expected to be in English and not exceed 500 words, must be submitted no later than December 15th, 2013. Your abstract should be of relevance for quantitative linguistics, and it should demonstrate the paper's relevance to the conference's topic. All abstracts will be anonymously reviewed by independent reviewers; submitters will be informed about the result of the reviewing process, and they will have an opportunity to comment the reviews, if necessary. Abstracts should be in English, and they should not exceed 500 words. Abstracts are requested to be submitted in two variants, i.e. both

 

(a) anonymously, without any personal data, as plain text in the abstract field, and

(b) with name, affiliation(s), email and correspondence address as attached PDF file.

The abstract text itself should be identical for both variants.

The Submission of Abstract is possible only via the conference tool. Both variants should be submitted electronically via the EasyChair Conference Manager:
