[Corpora-List] Wordrobe: one year of corpus annotation GWAPs, and a new game on animacy

Hello,

It's now exactly one year since we launched Wordrobe, a collection of games
with a purpose (GWAPs) for linguistic annotation (www.wordrobe.org).

To date, more than a thousand people have played Wordrobe, and thereby
contributed in the linguistic annotation of the Groningen Meaning Bank.
The most recent stable release, GMB 2.1.0, has improved considerably by
including information from Wordrobe's games.

Wordrobe now includes no less than six games, the most recent addition being a
game on animacy annotation, following the scheme in Zaenen et al. (2004):
"Animacy Encoding in English: why and how" [1].

Overall we're happy with the results: we evaluated one of the games in a
paper presented earlier this year at IWCS [2]. It's an interesting
alternative to manual annotation or using Turkers. One of the challenges
is to get players and keep them interested. See also the recent article by
Poesio et al. on Phrase Detectives [3].

Comments (and players) are welcome!

Johan Bos
