[Corpora-List] 5 doctoral researcher positions for new Leibniz ScienceCampus, Heidelberg and Mannheim

The Institute for the German Language (Institut für Deutsche Sprache, IDS)
in Mannheim and the Institute for Computational Linguistics (ICL) at
Heidelberg University will jointly establish the Leibniz ScienceCampus
"Empirical Linguistics and Computational Language Modeling". The Leibniz
ScienceCampus aims to conduct innovative research to support the
high-quality automatic annotation of large-scale corpus resources of German
language through induction of domain-, genre- and variety-adaptive natural
\language processing models, to enable advanced empirical research in
linguistics as well as innovative applications in the humanities and the
social sciences.

The Institute of German Language (IDS) and the Institute for Computational
Linguistics (ICL) at Heidelberg University fill vacancies starting
*1 April 2015 for *

**        five *doctoral researchers**(Reference number: 3/2015)*


Salary is based on Germany's academic salary level TV-L 13. The weekly 
working
hours correspond to 66% of the regular weekly working hours. The vacancy 
is for
an initial period of two years, with the possibility of extension for a 
further
year. After completion of the doctoral thesis a further one-year 
extension is
possible to allow for publications and project acquisition.

The doctoral researchers in the Leibniz ScienceCampus will be affiliated 
with
the Graduate Academy of the University of Heidelberg. The candidates may
participate in the joint doctoral program of ICL and the Heidelberg 
Institute
for Theoretical Studies (HITS gGmbH) as well as in the research training 
group
AIPHES. They benefit from special training programs, e.g. the attendance at
summer schools.

*Responsibilities*:

* Publications in leading conferences and workshops in the respective area
   (supported by a supervisor)
* Preparation of the doctoral thesis
* Active research within the Leibniz ScienceCampus
* Teaching activity in ICL's computational linguistics study program is 
welcome but not mandatory*

*Requirements*:
* Very good degree in the fields of computational linguistics, corpus 
linguistics
   or computer science (Dipl.-Inf. or M.Sc)
* Willingness to work independently on scientific topics
* Experience in the research areas of the ScienceCampus welcome
* Good programming skills
* Ability to work in a team, openness, flexibility as well as the 
ability to
   work independently
* Good knowledge of the German language and excellent knowledge of the 
English
   language
