The Natural Language Processing group in the School of Computer Engineering, Nanyang Technological University, Singapore has two open positions for research associate in the areas of text mining and clinical natural language processing (NLP).

One position is funded by Rolls-Royce, and aims at developing novel methods for text mining from speech recognition results, and semantic indexing and search and the development of prototypes demonstrating the successful application of the research. It involves applying scientific, technical and software engineering skills to conduct research on text mining in collaboration with the speech recognition group at NTU.

The other position aims at developing new clinical NLP applications for electronic medical records (EMRs) of Singapore hospitals, dealing with such issues as syntactic/semantic parser adaptation for the Singaporean EMRs and semantic similarity measurement. It involves applying scientific, technical and software engineering skills to conduct research on natural language processing, ontology engineering, and/or clinical informatics.

/Required Qualifications/

Master degree in Computational Linguistics, Computer Science, or a related discipline with specialization in natural language processing, ontology engineering, and/or clinical informatics. Independent research experiences are expected.
