EVALITA 2014 - Call for Interest
 
Following the success obtained by the previous editions, we are pleased to announce Evalita 2014, the fourth evaluation campaign of Natural Language Processing and Speech tools for Italian.
 
The general objective of Evalita (http://www.evalita.it) is to promote the development of language technologies for the Italian language, providing a shared framework where different systems and approaches can be evaluated in a consistent manner.
 
In particular, we intend to organise the following tasks:
 
Text tasks
- Dependency Parsing for Information Extraction (DPIE)
- EValuation of Events aNd Temporal Information (EVENTI)
- Word Sense Disambiguation & Lexical Substitution (WSD & LS)
- Sentiment Polarity Classification (SENTIPOLC)
 
Speech tasks
- Human and Machine Dialect Identification from Natural Speech and Artificial Stimuli (HMDI)
- Emotion Recogniton Task (ERT)

- Forced Alignment on Children Speech (FACS)

- Speech Activity detection and Speaker LOcalization in DOMestic environments (SASLODOM)

 
As with other international evaluation campaigns, guidelines describing the different tasks will be distributed among the participants. Participants will also be provided with training data and will have the chance to test their systems with the evaluation metrics and procedures to be used in the formal evaluation. The results of the evaluation will be disseminated at the final workshop which will be organized within the next AI*IA Conference (11 December 2014), immediately after the First Italian Conference on Computational Linguistics (CLIC-it 2014).
 
We invite participation from both academic institutions and industrial organizations.

·      15th March 2014: on-line registration opens
·      15th May 2014: development data available to participants
·      8th September 2014: test data available, registration closes
·      15th September 2014: system results due to organizers
·      22th September 2014: assessment returned to participants
·      31st October 2014: technical reports due to organizers
·      11 December 2014: final workshop
