The Division of Computational Linguistics at the University of Tuebingen, Germany is involved in the construction of research infrastructures for language resources and technology at the local, national, and European levels. For the NaLiDa (www.sfs.uni-tuebingen.de/nalida/en/), Kobra (www.kobra.tu-dortmund.de/mediawiki/index.php?title=Hauptseite), and Collaborative Research Center “The construction of meaning“ (SFB 833; http://www.uni-tuebingen.de/en/research/core-research/collaborative-research-centers/sfb-833/inf-infrastructure-project.html  projects, we are searching for a corpus linguist or a computational linguist with demonstrated research expertise in one or more of the following areas: the use of large corpora in quantitative linguistic research in morphology, syntax, semantics, or discourse analysis; the development of data visualization techniques for corpus data; the development of query tools for text corpora.

Good command of German is strongly preferred, and good communication skills in English are expected. Prior experience in statistical methods for corpus linguistics, the use of text encoding standards for corpora, relevant programming skills, or experience with content management systems are desirable. 

An M.A, an M.Sc. or a Ph.D. in Linguistics, Computational Linguistics, Computer Science, or related field is required.  The starting date for this full-time position is October 1, 2014. The initial period of appointment is until May 31, 2016, with the possibility of renewal subject to follow-up funding.  The position is at the rank of 'Wissenschaftlicher Mitarbeiter'. The salary is determined by the German civil servants standard (Entgeltgruppe 13 TV-L) and ranges from 42000-52000 Euro per year, depending on the successful applicant's experience.
