The 2-year programme is offered by the Dept. of Computational
Linguistics & Digital Humanities and the Trier Center for Digital
Humanities in close collaboration with the Dept. of Computer Science.

The application deadline for international students is
**** July 15th, 2014. ****

Digital Humanities
---------------
Digital Humanities (DH) is a relatively new but quickly growing field at
the intersection between the Humanities and Computer Science. Typical
research questions concern the digitisation, representation, archiving
and publishing of data from the Humanities and Cultural Heritage, as
well as their automatic analysis and visualisation. Graduates with
expertise in both the Humanities and Computing are highly sought
after, especially by cultural heritage institutes, universities, and
the tourism and publishing sectors.

The Programme
-------------
The MSc programme is open to students with a Bachelor's degree (or
equivalent) in the Humanities, Computer Science or a similar subject.
Some knowledge of German is required as some courses are taught in
German. The programme is highly interdisciplinary with contributions
from Computer Science, the Philologies, Phonetics and History
of Art. Some classes are co-taught by lecturers from different
disciplines and the curriculum combines traditional seminar-style
course with project-based coursework carried out in collaboration
with the Trier Center for Digital Humanities and cultural heritage
institutes in the region. No tuition fees are charged for students
who do not hold a previous Master's degree.

Studying in Trier
-------------
As the oldest City in Germany, Trier has a rich cultural heritage
going back to Roman times and beyond. Its Roman remains are listed as
a UNESCO world heritage site and the city is home to numerous museums
and other cultural heritage institutes. Being situated in the centre
of Europe and part of the so-called Greater Region (with Luxembourg
and neigbouring regions in France and Belgium), Trier is also an ideal
place for cultural exchange. Trier University is participating in the
Greater Region University network, which provides unbureaucratic
opportunities for cross-border research and studying.
