WiBi: the Wikipedia Bitaxonomy Project

=================================

As an output of the "MultiJEDI" Starting Grant <http://multijedi.org/>,
funded by the European Research Council and headed by Prof. Roberto
Navigli, the Linguistic Computing Laboratory <http://lcl.uniroma1.it/> of
the Sapienza University of Rome is proud to announce the first release of
WiBi <http://wibitaxonomy.org/>.

WiBi [1] is a 3-phase approach to the automatic creation of a bitaxonomy

for the English Wikipedia, that is, an integrated taxonomy of Wikipage
pages
and categories. We leverage the information available in either one of
the taxonomies to reinforce the creation of the other taxonomy.

The method for building the bitaxonomy is self-contained, thanks to its
independence from external resources (like WordNet) and the virtual
absence of supervision, making WiBi replicable on any new version of
Wikipedia.

Features in WiBi:

* Nearly full coverage of pages and categories encompassing the entire
encyclopedic content of Wikipedia:

++ 3.8M hypernyms in the Wikipedia page taxonomy;

++ 600k hypernyms in the Wikipedia category taxonomy;

* State-of-the-art results on both pages and categories when compared to
all available knowledge resources;

* Fully browsable thanks to an easy-to-use interface
<http://wibitaxonomy.org>;

* Integrated with BabelNet <http://babelnet.org>!

* Self-contained resource (no additional resources or supervision required).

WiBi at ACL 2014:

* Tuesday, June 24 - ACL 2014 (Baltimore, MD, USA) - ACL paper presentation
