Dear colleagues,
We are pleased to announce the launch of a new journal entitled CHIMERA: International Journal of Romance Corpora and Linguistic Studies (ISSN 2386-2629), published by Universidad Autónoma de Madrid and edited by Alessandro Panunzi (Univ. di Firenze), Carlota Nicolás (Univ. di Firenze), and Manuel Alcántara-Plá (Univ. Autónoma de Madrid). CHIMERA intends to promote a stronger connection among the academic communities of the Romance languages speaking countries in Europe and overseas. From 2014, the journal will publish one issue per year.
CHIMERA accepts original articles focusing on the analysis of both spoken and written corpora from any theoretical perspective and about all areas of linguistic research. The journal also publishes short papers and reviews regarding books, corpora (accounting for resource building initiatives and innovative annotation practices), and tools for the corpus analysis.
We would like to invite you to both submit a manuscript for our first issue and spread among your colleagues and collaborators this call for paper. Articles will be in their electronic version as soon as they are accepted and ready, without waiting for the assembly of a complete issue. The first issue will be open till December 2014.
Long papers should be between 5,000 and 10,000 words, and short papers/reviews between 2,000 and 4,000 words (including references). Submissions should be written in English or in any Romance language.
All submitted manuscripts will be peer-reviewed by at least two members of the editorial board/scientific committee (see below) and will only be accepted for the inaugural issue if they are recommended for acceptance with minor revisions. Priority will be given to articles that display a strong theoretical background, solid methodology in corpus linguistics, and an innovative approach.
