[Corpora-List] Anonymity in BNC

Dear Eric,

I have just spotted a query you sent out in August about procedures for
anonymizing references to individuals in the BNC.  I'm afraid the truth is
that what was done was so inadequate that it's really a joke.  There is
plenty of quite damaging stuff in the BNC relating to individuals whose
identities are easily discovered or in some cases explicitly stated.  I
discuss this briefly in sec. 4.1 of the documentation file of my CHRISTINE
Corpus (www.grsampson.net/ChrisDoc.html); and I and others have discussed
it further in publications for which I can't immediately lay my hand on
references.
