As a aside to Teun's comments, one thing I thought the 'King' trial
taught us was that images are not transparent. The defence there taught
the jury how to read the video, while the prosecution just kept saying
that what was there was obvious for everyone to see. So one practical
contribution CDA can make is to promote the notion of images as texts -
and beyond this, what we think of as reality as something that is viewed
- - from different positions.
