SCHOOL OF ENGLISH, COMMUNICATION AND PHILOSOPHY

HEALTH COMMUNICATION RESEARCH CENTRE

Two research posts are available in the HCRC from January 2000,
for a period of three years. You will be working on a Wellcome
Trust funded project on `Communicative Frames in Genetic
Counselling' under the direction of Dr Srikant Sarangi.

RESEARCH ASSOCIATE

You will have a PhD in the broad area of Sociolinguistics and
Discourse Studies, with some experience in designing qualitative
research projects and proven abaility in using conversation analytic
and pragmatics based research methods. Research experience,
including publications, in professional/institutional communication,
especially in medical settings, will be an advantage. (Vacancy

Salary: #16286-#24479 per annum

RESEARCH ASSISTANT

You will have a good degree (equivalent to a First or 2.1) and/or
relevant graduate/diploma level qualifications in language and
communication research. You should have direct experience of
collecting, transcribing and profiling talk data in institutional
settings. A research interest in the genetic counselling site will be
an advantage. (Vacancy Number:576)
