NEW ECRI REPORTS ON CROATIA AND SWEDEN – 25 SEPTEMBER 2012


ECRI published two new reports on the fight against racism, racial discrimination, xenophobia, antisemitism and intolerance in Croatia and Sweden. ECRI’s Chair, Mr. Jenö Kaltenbach, welcomed positive developments in the two countries, but regretted that a number of concerns persisted.

CROATIA

According to ECRI there are issues of concern in Croatia, such as the impact on inter-ethnic relations of the under-representation of persons belonging to national minorities in the public administration and the courts, and in particular the low number of Serbs in the police at local level, and the fact that many Roma still do not have personal identity or citizenship documents. SWEDEN

In its report on Sweden, ECRI finds that that a number of problems persisted, such as continuing de facto residential segregation and the ground gained by xenophobic and islamophobic discourse and political parties over the past few years. Conclusions on the implementation of priority recommendations in respect of Greece

ECRI published its conclusions on the implementation of three priority recommendations made in its country report on Greece, which was released in 2009. Through the new interim follow-up procedure, ECRI seeks to assist Council of Europe member States in fine-tuning their response to the recommendations made in its country reports. New guidelines to combat discrimination in employment

NOUVEAUX RAPPORTS DE L’ECRI SUR LA CROATIE ET LA SUÈDE – 25 SEPTEMBRE 2012


L'ECRI a publié deux nouveaux rapports sur la lutte contre le racisme, la discrimination raciale, la xénophobie, l’antisémitisme et l’intolérance en Croatie et en Suède. Le Président de l’ECRI, M. Jenö Kaltenbach, a déclaré que s’il y a eu des progrès dans les deux pays, des préoccupations demeurent.


CROATIE

Selon l’ECRI, des problèmes subsistent en Croatie comme l’incidence sur les relations interethniques de la sous‑représentation des personnes appartenant à une minorité nationale dans l’Administration et les instances judiciaires et, en particulier, le nombre restreint de Serbes dans la police au niveau local et le fait que de nombreux Roms n’ont toujours pas de papiers d’identité, ni de document attestant leur nationalité. SUÈDE

Dans son rapport sur la Suède, ECRI déplore la persistance d’un certain nombre de problèmes tels que la ségrégation de fait dans le logement et le terrain gagné, ces dernières années, par le discours et les partis politiques xénophobes et islamophobes. Conclusions sur la mise en œuvre des recommandations prioritaires concernant la Grèce

L'ECRI a publié ses conclusions sur la mise en œuvre des trois recommandations prioritaires formulées dans son rapport concernant la Grèce, paru en 2009. Avec cette nouvelle procédure de suivi intermédiaire, l’ECRI souhaite aider les Etats membres du Conseil de l’Europe à mieux adapter leurs réponses aux recommandations faites dans ses rapports pays-par-pays. Lignes directrices pour lutter contre la discrimination dans le monde du travail
