Digital Humanism (DigHum) is an interdisciplinary initiative integrating
humanities, social, and technical sciences. It aims to describe, to analyse
and, above all, to influence the complex interplay between IT and humanity
for a society that fully respects universal human rights. Pursuing these
goals, topics at the summer school include:
* participation and democracy;
* digital politics and sovereignty;
* the role of platforms in the economy;
* privacy;
* AI and ethics;
* fair systems.

The summer school welcomes PhD students from engineering, social sciences
and humanities as well as interested people from industry, institutions and
civil society. Leading scientists from the different fields involved will
introduce the topics. A typical course is broad enough to provide a general
introduction to the chosen topic, while covering the most relevant
contributions in depth. In addition, there is ample time for discussions and
presentations of participants' projects.

These topics will be introduced by internationally renowned experts,
including Franco Accordino (European Commission), Anna Bon (VU Amsterdam),
Robin Burke (University of Colorado Boulder), Milad Doueihi (Paris-Sorbonne
University), Monika Lanzenberger (European Commission), Thomas Lohninger
(epicenter.works), Stavros Makris (University of Glasgow), George Metakides
(Digital Enlightenment Forum), Jürgen Pfeffer (TU München), Ute Schmid
(University of Bamberg), Maria Soledad Pera (TU Delft), and Hannes Werthner
(TU Wien).

The summer school is organised by the Center for Artificial Intelligence and
Machine Learning (CAIML) at TU Wien, the Digital Enlightenment Forum,
and the Digital Humanism Initiative.
