plus, there is a very detailed paper by A.G. included in 'Register
Analysis: Theory and Practice' (ed, M. Ghadessy. Pinter. 1993) -->
Metaphors in Written and Spoken Varieties.

in it, he categorizes euphemism as one type of functional variety of
metaphor ('decoration and disguise'). worth a look if you have the book to
hand.
