First Announcement. WORKPLACE STUDIES SYMPOSIUM
British Sociological Association: Sociology of Language Group
in conjunction with the Manchester Ethnography Group
The newly revived BSA Language Study Group, in conjunction with the
Manchester Ethnography Group, is pleased to announce its second in a series
of seminars about current work in ethnomethodology, conversation analysis,
sociolinguistics, and different varieties of discourse analytic and
ethnographic research, including new applied fields such as computer
supported co-operative work (CSCW).

In recent years there has been increasing interest in research
investigating language and practices in a variety of occupational settings
by ethnomethodologists, conversation analysts, organizational sociologists,
system designers and others. This one-day conference will present research
and explore methodological issues in this area.
