Special Note:
     Use of the Internet has made it possible to handle conference
submissions, deadlines, and presentation schedules in a much more flexible
manner than in previous years. Submissions of papers or panels are now
invited until October 15, 1999.

Submissions can be made electronically to jknuf at pop.uky.edu; they will be
added to the list on a continuous basis. Individual notifications will also
be mailed.

                                          Call For Papers

    The University of Kentucky Department of Communication invites your
submissions to the Eighth International Conference on Narrative, to be held
Friday, November 12, to Sunday, November 14, 1999, in Lexington, Kentucky.

    The theme of the 1999 conference, Discourse & Representation, suggests
topics addressing the diverse ways in which narrative language and imagery
and symbolism in other domains is manifested and used in social
interaction, literary and ephemeral texts, the media, and the fine and
performing arts. Contributions that foster awareness across boundaries and
categories are especially welcome.
