The Fifth International Symposium on Politeness

“Politeness and impoliteness, on- and off-line”

30th of June to 2nd of July 2010.

University of Basel, Switzerland 

Scope: 
The special focus of this three-day conference is on issues of
face-enhancing, face-maintaining and face-aggravating language communication
in computer-mediated communication of all types. While the theme of the
conference explicitly invites a discussion of computer-mediated
communication, submissions from across the field of politeness and
impoliteness research are invited and welcome. 

Submission of paper proposals: 
31 December 2009: 500 words (via website)
