Subject: DO NOT SEND UNSUBSCRIBE REQUESTS TO THE LIST
Just to let you know.
PLEASE do not email the list with unsubscribe or remove me requests. The
likelihood that any responsible list administrator will remove you is very
small, because they expect you, as user of the email to remove yourself.
If you want to remove yourself PLEASE go to the website and follow
directions:
http://listserv.linguistlist.org/cgi-bin/wa?INDEX
It is actually considered to be against netiquette to send such things to a
list. As such, you might think of such behavior as a form of rudeness,
equivalent to assuming someone who is your equal... is your servant, the
administrator isn't your servant, they shouldn't remove you, and you should
remove yourself. I would not come to your house and demand that you clean
my office, nor should you come to a listserv and demand someone else take
care of your email. Please take this into consideration in the future and
take care of your own email. If you need help unsubscribing, it is fine to
ask "how do i unsubscribe" but not ok to demand that someone unsubscribe
you.
have a great weekend,
