ACTFL 2005 Annual Meeting and Exposition

November 18-20, 2005

CALL FOR PROPOSALS

The 39th Convention of the American Council on the Teaching of Foreign
Languages (ACTFL) will be Friday, November 18, 2005 through Sunday,
November 20, 2005 in Baltimore, MD. Workshops will be held on Thursday,
November 17, 2005 and Sunday, November 20, 2005 in the afternoon. All
sessions will be held between Friday, November 18, 2005 and Sunday,
November 20, 2005. The ACTFL convention features over 400 educational
sessions covering the whole range of languages, levels and topics in the
foreign language education field. The convention draws approximately 5,000
attendees. The 2005 convention will once again be co-sponsored by the
American Council of Teachers of German (AATG), the American Council on the
Teaching of Italian (AATI), the Chinese Language Teachers Association
(CLTA), and the National Council of Japanese Language Teachers (NCJLT).
The Maryland Foreign Language Association will also be co-sponsoring the
2005 Convention as the local host.

This is a Call for Proposals for the ACTFL portion of the 2005 Convention
program. The entire selection of sessions is designed to provide
attendees with an exciting array of sessions and events to celebrate the
value of language learning and cultural studies. In addition, the
convention always features a unique theme for the year. The Convention
theme for 2005 is 2005-2015: Realizing Our Vision of Languages for All.

Building off this theme, proposals showing model projects, including those
from 2005: The Year of Languages, supporting our next decade’s vision of
leadership and supporting quality teaching and learning of languages will
be fundamental in addressing the convention theme 2005-2015: Realizing Our
Vision of Languages for All.

We encourage all language educators from all areas of the profession to
submit proposals and make plans to attend the convention in Baltimore, MD
November 18-20, 2005. The 2005 convention will celebrate and wrap-up all
the activities of 2005: The Year of Languages. Baltimore, MD is the charm
of the mid-Atlantic coast, featuring a diverse nightlife, neighborhoods,
shops, restaurants, and attractions all within walking distance downtown.
Baltimore is a vibrant metropolis with small-town character.

This year we will also be inaugurating a new format of presentation. In
addition, to 3-hour workshops and 90-minute sessions, we are also
accepting poster sessions as a form of presentation.
