Eleventh Annual Multicultural Conference
Beyond Multiculturalism
San Antonio, Texas
April 19-21, 2005
Has Multiculturalism outstayed its moment? Perhaps the very success has
rendered it obsolete. Perhaps the individual elements of the loose
confederacy are shifting focus from common cause to differences. Or,
perhaps the dominant culture, fueled by the fires of fundamentalism and
patriotism, threaten its future development?
The goal of the conference is to examine the theoretical approaches with
post-multiculturalism.
The boundaries of the conference theme are quite broad and encompass any
study of literature, film, music, art, photography, or related topics.
Papers looking at culture from a post-modernist, post-realist, and other
approaches are encouraged. We invite faculty, administrators, and staff to
participate in delivering presentations or reading creative works within the
conference theme.
Those wishing to present papers should submit a title and a 100-150 word
abstract outlining the proposed topic and mode of presentation. Individuals
interested in reading creative works should submit samples of their work.
Completed manuscripts should not exceed 10 double-spaced pages of typescript
so that papers can be presented in a twenty-minute presentation.
(Individual submissions only.)
DEADLINE FOR SUBMISSIONS: NOVEMBER 12, 2004
Final selection of conference participants will be made by December 10,
2004.
