Prof. C. J. Daswani and Dr. Cynthia Marivate

Join us for an panel discussion with language and literacy specialists C. J.
Daswani from India and Cynthia Marivate from South Africa. Prof. Dan Wagner
will provide a reaction to their presentations, followed by a time of open
discussion.
Prof. C. J. Daswani received his Ph.D. in Linguistics from Cornell University.
He has been Professor of Linguistics at Pune University and J. Nehru University
in India, as well as head of Non-Formal Education at the National Council on
Educational Research and Training, New Delhi, India.
Dr. Cynthia Marivate received her doctorate in Education at Harvard University,
and is now serving as Executive Director of PanSALB, the Pan South Africa
Language Board of South Africa, which addresses issues of langugage and
ethnicity in South Africa.
The event is sponsored by the International Literacy Institute (ILI),
Interdisciplinary Studies in Human Development (ISHD), and the Educational
Linguistics Forum (ELF)
Refreshments will be served.
