The Virginia Tech School of Education is continuing a major recruitment

Education faculty of 72 currently offers 23 graduate programs to over

The Department of Teaching and Learning invites applicants for a 
tenure-track Assistant Professor position in Educational Foundations to 
begin August 2006.

*Responsibilities*: Teaching at graduate level, establishing a strong 
research program, participating in outreach with local communities and 
schools, serving on departmental and college committees, and advising 
and mentoring students.

*Required Qualifications: *A doctorate by date of appointment in 
education or social science field (anthropology, sociology, urban 
studies, history, philosophy, socio-linguistics, etc.). The applicant 
should demonstrate promise of significant scholarly research in the 
study of education, with a focus on science, technology, engineering, or 
mathematics education.

*Preferred Qualifications: *Scholarly emphasis on 
socio-cultural-historical approaches to inquiry. Research experience in 
urban settings and K-12 schools. Research interests and experiences with 
ethnic and linguistic minority populations. Excellence in teaching.
